Hello and welcome! I'm Maureen, an intern therapist at Tiny Planet Counseling. My mission is to walk alongside adults and couples on their path to growth and healing. With a degree in Psychology, while pursuing my Master's in Social Work at Barry University, I'm deeply committed to providing trauma-informed care that sparks positive transformations.
I truly believe in the power of therapy, as it has changed my life. I approach each session with empathy and understanding. I recognize the profound impact of our past and present experiences on our lives. Creating a safe, nonjudgmental space is at the heart of what I do. We can explore your experiences within this space and pave the way for healing.
As a married woman of Caribbean heritage, I am passionate about supporting adult women, couples, and first-, second-, and third-generation immigrants as they navigate trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions. I am also dedicated to working with women and couples who have faced trauma related to their spiritual journey. My fluency in Spanish allows me to connect with a diverse range of clients effectively.
I've had the privilege of assisting individuals and couples facing various challenges, and I firmly believe that therapy should be personalized to meet your unique needs. Every journey is different, and that's why I employ a variety of evidence-based techniques, including trauma-informed cognitive-behavioral therapy (TI-CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), Polyvagal theory, mindfulness, emotionally focused therapy (EFT), Gottman principles, attachment-focused therapy, and inner child work. These approaches are tailored to what works best for you.
